La-Isla-Blog-Header

It’s official! Both patios are open in Redmond & Ballard and your outdoor dining experience at La Isla Cuisine can begin! Summer is our favorite time to enjoy the flavors of Puerto Rico, especially sipping on Don Q Mojitos while people-watching and basking in the wonderful Summer sun! If you haven’t joined our outdoor dining yet, stop by, relax, and enjoy yourselves. It’s a truly great experience!

Now onto the June specials!

FOOD

This month Chef Hernan came up with a really nice, delicate, yet flavorful Mahi Mahi (dorado) dish. A rum and passionfruit glaze pairs nicely with this fish and comes with avocado, tomato salad, rice and beans and tostones. Come hungry for this one though, as the fish is 12 ounces, comes with a meaty texture and is sure to satisfy.

As always, leave us your thoughts on this great special as we appreciate any feedback.

In the never-ending quest to experiment with rum, we let our staff play with different ingredients and do some taste tests. What came out of it was a perfect summer drink to enjoy on the patio: “Pretty in Pink.”

This drink has the smooth white rum, Caliche, lime juice, simple syrup, grenadine, and a frothed egg white; all shaken together and served in a cold martini shell with a lemon twist. It’s a great balance of sweet, tart and refreshing!

RUM CLUB

We’re happy to announce that for the month of June we will feature the rums of 3 Howls Distillery! Join us on Wednesday, June 24th at 7:30pm to taste some really great rums and give our support to local distillery. 3 Howls has been distilling amazing rums for the last 3 years right here in Seattle. I’m also happy to mention that one, or both 3 Howls’ owners will be with us to speak about the processes and production of their rum.

And for those of you that will be in Ballard the night before, join us on Tuesday, June 23rd at 7:30pm for what is sure to be a historic evening. We will be drinking rum and sharing the stories of Carl Raul, a fictional, Hemingway-like genius in the world of rum adventures…he’s also a lamb chop. Bring your imagination your imagination for this one…we look forward to seeing all your bright & shiny smiles!

Thanks again to everyone for supporting La Isla Cuisine and being a part of what we do. We hope you will come and enjoy the wonderful weather with us, and of course, great drink and Puerto Rican cuisine!
