Value.  Engagement.  Friends and family.

What do those things mean to us and why are they so important? Being business owners, there are many different avenues with which can choose to run our business. But what are we trying to do with our business and how do we want to portray it to those who patronize us? It would seem like a pretty easy answer, but it’s easy to say something and a bit harder to live it.

Why tell this to everyone? We feel it’s important for our guests and employees to know what we are about and live it each day: to provide value for everyone who walks through our doors, to engage with them in a way that creates a family type atmosphere and to have friends and family present to build memories while enjoying some great Puerto Rican food and rum based cocktails. By keeping to the core of these values, we feel that we created a great place for people to work and for our guests to get an experience you can’t get anywhere else!

On to the happenings of October.

This year has seen some pretty fantastic food specials and just when we don’t think we can keep going, Chef Hernan uses his creativity and knocks it out of the park! Pechuga de pollo rellena de amarillos, or chicken breast stuffed with maduros, wrapped in bacon, served alongside Abuela’s rice and beans and sautéed green beans. The maduros are panfried with Sofrito, onions, garlic and butter, mashed and stuffed inside the chicken, bacon wrapped and finished off in the oven-it is very tasty and we’ll be running this throughout the whole month. Try is out and give us some feedback on Facebook or email us to let us know at info@laislacuisine.com.

Yes, October is National Pork Month. Pork was added to the Arawaks and Taino culture (original inhabitants of Puerto Rico) back in 1493 when Ponce De Leon arrived with Columbus in 1493. It’s no surprise that our most popular dish at La Isla Cuisine is our Pernil Divino and to celebrate that dish and National Pork Month, each of you can redeem a gift certificate for a $10 Pernil Divino entree by clicking HERE. Redeem the code via your smartphone and bring in to La Isla anytime! Enjoy!

Have you ever asked yourself if pumpkins and rum go well together? If not, we’ve done the work for you: turns out it’s pretty delicious! Both Seattle and Redmond have played around with some pumpkin and rum concoctions and fused them together to make some great cocktails – next time you’re in, ask your server or bartender for the pumpkin special and be prepared to enjoy something you won’t find anywhere else!

It’s that time of the year when all of you and your friends get to vote for the ‘Best Latin American’ cuisine in King 5’s Best of Western Washington! We have come in 2nd place three years in a row and would love to get first – but we need all of your votes to get this done. Check it out HERE and help support us to 1st place!

If you’re part of the 12th Man and a Seahawks lover, know that we show every game at both of our locations and have ‘Hawks Happy Hour’ during each game. We are offering $4 draftS, $3 cans of Rainier and our full happy hour food menu to help you enjoy the game. Come by, pull up a seat at the bar, enjoy some great food and root for the Hawks to get a road win!

We hope that all of you enjoy our newsletters and updates – if you have any feedback, you can email me at jason@laislaseattle.com. We always welcome feedback, no matter what it is.
And thank you to all of you for supporting us. We’re coming up on 10 years for our Seattle location in January, quite the milestone!
